Description

Where leadership meets lasting national impact

The Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) exists to deliver a clear and compelling vision: better financial futures for everyone in need. As an arm’s-length body sponsored by the Department for Work and Pensions, MaPS plays a central role in the UK’s financial wellbeing agenda, bringing together policy, delivery and innovation to ensure that people can access trusted guidance and make confident financial decisions throughout their lives. Through its work across pensions guidance, debt advice and money guidance, MaPS is shaping a more inclusive and resilient financial future for millions.

Our Commercial function and this role

At a time of increasing complexity and demand across public services, MaPS is strengthening its commercial capability to ensure levy funding from the financial services sector is used transparently, effectively and delivers maximum impact. A significant proportion of MaPS services are delivered through third‑party providers. The Commercial Director will play a pivotal leadership role in setting and delivering the organisation’s commercial strategy, overseeing procurement, contract and supplier management, and commercial policy. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will lead a high‑performing function, driving value for money, strengthening risk management, and where commercial leadership drives national services.

About you

We are looking for an inspiring, inclusive and commercially astute leader with a strong track record of operating at a senior level in complex, governed environments. You will bring deep expertise in public procurement, supplier and contract management, and risk assurance, alongside the ability to influence at Executive and Board level. You will be a strategic thinker with a delivery focused approach, committed to continuous improvement and building high performing, diverse teams. Above all, you will share MaPS’s commitment to public service, equity and inclusion, and be committed to delivering meaningful outcomes for the people and communities we serve.

If you are ready to take on a role with national impact, we would welcome your application. To find out more and apply, please visit the dedicated recruitment site: https://maps.gs-attract.com/.
