Description

Where leadership meets lasting national impact

The Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) exists to deliver a clear and compelling vision: better financial futures for everyone in need. As an arm’s-length body sponsored by the Department for Work and Pensions, MaPS plays a central role in the UK’s financial wellbeing agenda, bringing together policy, delivery and innovation to ensure that people can access trusted guidance and make confident financial decisions throughout their lives. Through its work across pensions guidance, debt advice and money guidance, MaPS is shaping a more inclusive and resilient financial future for millions.

Our Commercial function and this role

At a time of increasing complexity and demand across public services, MaPS is strengthening its commercial capability to ensure levy funding from the financial services sector is used transparently, effectively and delivers maximum impact. With a significant proportion of services delivered through commissioned providers, grant-funded partners and specialist third-sector organisations, the Head of Commercial - Customer will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective delivery of services that support people across the UK.

Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Head of Commercial - Customer will provide senior commercial leadership across a complex portfolio of commissioned services, grants and contracts that underpin MaPS' customer-facing delivery. Acting as the lead commercial partner to the Customer Directorate, they will shape and deliver commercial strategies across commissioning, procurement, grants, contract management and assurance, ensuring services are sustainable, compliant and focused on delivering positive outcomes for citizens.

About You

We are seeking a commercially astute and collaborative leader with significant experience operating across commercial, procurement, commissioning or grant-management environments. You will have a proven track record of managing complex portfolios and delivering commercial strategies within regulated or highly governed organisations, with the ability to balance compliance, value for money and service excellence.

You will be an exceptional stakeholder manager, able to build trusted relationships with senior leaders, influence decision-making and provide constructive challenge where needed. You will bring strong commercial and financial acumen, alongside experience of working with diverse supplier ecosystems, including third-sector organisations and SMEs. Combining strategic thinking with a pragmatic, delivery-focused approach, you will have the judgement, resilience and leadership skills required to navigate complexity, manage risk and deliver outcomes that make a meaningful difference to people's financial wellbeing.

This is an opportunity for a commercial leader who wants to shape strategy, influence organisational transformation and help deliver services that improve the lives of millions of people across the UK.
